The Cleveland Browns went to Andy Dickerson, a relatively familiar face and long-time NFL coach, for the role of the team’s next offensive line coach to replace Bill Callahan.

Dickerson, who spent time with the Browns as an assistant in 2009 and 2010 under Eric Mangini, returns to the fold with the tall task of replacing Callahan and pushing the offensive line to new levels with his approach that worked well in Seattle.

Dickerson drew praise for his work with the Seahawks. In 2021 as the run game coordinator, the Seahawks finished the season with 5.02 yards per attempt, third best in the NFL. In 2022, Dickerson guided the transition to rookie offensive tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas in a year where quarterback Geno Smith earned a trip to the Pro Bowl.

He will be tasked to sort out the performance of three talented offensive tackles and one of the NFL’s best interior line groups. While the talent is there, injuries and a poor cohesive performance derailed many of the Browns’ efforts last season. The run game success will also be critical for Dickerson to shape up as the unit had its worst collective performance since the arrival of Kevin Stefanski in 2020.

Dickerson is from Wilmington, Delaware, and attended Tufts University as an offensive lineman from 1999 to 2002.
