Following his hamstring injury sustained in Crystal Palace’s 3-1 victory over Brentford the previous game, attacker Michael Olise has been given a thorough explanation by Roy Hodgson regarding the puzzle surrounding his playing time.

Towards the end of Palace’s Premier League victory over the Bees, the 22-year-old saw the issue and indicated to the bench that he needed to be taken off.

The past three games, Olise has started and played the whole ninety minutes. Due to a hamstring injury he sustained while playing for France’s U21 team on international duty last summer, the former Reading winger has only made nine appearances this season.

He had to have surgery for the injury, which kept him out of action for the first 11 games of the 2023–24 campaign.

With two goals from Eberechi Eze and a brace from Olise against Brentford, Palace won their first Premier League game in eighteen attempts.

During the pre-Everton FA Cup press conference, Hodgson stated that Olise would not be playing and that he did not want to set a deadline for his comeback.

The following Premier League match for Palace is scheduled for January 20 following their FA Cup match tomorrow.

“This has nothing to do with the injury that occurred earlier.” When asked about Olise’s injury, Hodgson stated, “It’s much lower down (his hamstring).”

Therefore, it’s not a recurrence and is nowhere close to where he hurt himself. Exercise caution when interacting with players. These days, you have to exercise increasing caution. Because of VAR and longer matches, there are greater stretches of inaction in the game.

We just finished a stretch of a few weeks in which we played three matches a week, so you are aware of all of those things. However, the truth is that managing a team cannot be done in a completely scientific manner.

You are aware of all of those things since we recently ended a couple weeks when we played three matches a week. The fact remains, though, that team management cannot be carried out in a way that is entirely scientific.

“Maybe you should take Michael Olise off the field a little earlier because he might pull a muscle in the final few minutes of the game,” someone could have remarked to me, for instance. You would act without hesitation, of course.

“However, if suddenly, with fifteen minutes remaining, Olise begins acting like he’s playing. When they put up the board with the words “Olise off,” Olise notices and asks, “What’s going on?” How are you spending your time? How come you’re taking me away? When the sports scientist adds, “Well, I told him to do that – I thought it was a good idea,” the crowd boos and cries, “I want to play.”

“Managers must prevail in games. How are you able to accomplish that? You assemble a strong squad and collaborate with those involved to achieve optimal performance and ensure that players are prepared, motivated, and physically well enough to play when they take the field. We make an effort to do that.

“We haven’t yet reached the point where the game is entirely managed by individuals under my supervision, when, in essence, I enter a game and he plays for forty minutes, seventy minutes, or eighty minutes. What happens if the player who is 80 minutes in gets hurt with a pulled muscle after 15 minutes?

We have discovered that sports science is an excellent resource for examining our training schedule, including the quantity and frequency of our running. It is essential. ensuring that those who suffer injuries are well and ready to play when they return, having undergone all necessary procedures. I can’t say enough good things about it.However, I find it more difficult to believe that we will reach a point where we can accurately determine how long players can play.

“If you substitute a 40, 50, or 60-meter starter for the player you take off, things might be different at the top teams.” I don’t think the public or media will comprehend it if I remove Olise and replace her with someone who they don’t think is even close to Olise’s level. If we lose, they won’t comprehend it even more.
