The NFL’s best quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, shared he still loves baseball and would be interested in joining the Kansas City Royals during spring training to practice for a few days, per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

According to Nightengale, “Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes says he still loves the game of baseball and wants to come to Surprise, Ariz., next spring to practice a few days with the Kansas City Royals.”

if Mahomes were to make it to the Royals’ spring training, he would follow in the footsteps of Russell Wilson, who participated in the New York Yankees’ spring training back in 2018.

Mahomes was famously a dual-sport athlete growing up, playing both baseball and football in high school and part of college. He was even drafted in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. Mahomes played baseball at Texas Tech during both his freshman and sophomore seasons, but quit his junior year to focus more on football. Many credit his experience in both sports to his incredible success as a passer, helping him succeed in off-platform throws, side arms, and unusual arm angles.

Several other great quarterbacks have also played baseball, and even been drafted, including Tom Brady, John Elway, and Kyler Murray.
