On Thursday, disturbing news surfaced about Detroit Lions cornerback Cam Sutton, who has reportedly been on the run from the law for the past two weeks in Florida.

Sutton currently has a warrant out for his arrest due to a domestic violence incident, and he clearly has no intention of dealing with it as law enforcement in Florida continues to look for his whereabouts in order to bring him in.

With Sutton being on the run, the Lions predictability decided to release him on Thursday, as the NFC North division champions want no part of what is going on with the troubled cornerback’s situation with Detroit being a team on the rise in the NFL right now.

The Lions releasing Sutton on Thursday will result in the veteran corner losing a significant amount of money that he was owed for the 2024 NFL season.

According to Pro Football Talk, Sutton will lose $10.5 million in fully guaranteed salary for next season.

Not only does Sutton have the consequences of being on the run from the law ahead of him, but losing this much money that was set to be paid to him is a massive blow to his bank account.

Along with all of that, Sutton is likely done as an NFL player, which means everything has come crashing down for the 29-year-old former University of Tennessee star.

With Sutton no longer on the team in Detroit, the Lions will have to look for a replacement for the starting cornerback, with the team either looking to NFL free agency or the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
