Leeds has reportedly begun talks with Spurs about signing the Welshman, according to a report published by Football Insider on Thursday. The article further explains that the Championship club is aware that if they wait until next summer, they may face stiff competition for the defender.

According to the source, the former Swansea player may fetch up to £20 million by the end of the current campaign due to increased interest in his skills.

When asked about the club’s rumoured pursuit of the Tottenham man, he said (via TEAMtalk): “Behind the scenes, we are working. There is no doubt we are more than happy with Joe.

“He is growing into this club more and more, a leader role, you see how much it means to him to wear this white shirt. He is just happy to be her. He is crucial. We are more than happy.

“He will stay with us until the end of the season, but we would like him to stay a little bit longer. Right now, it is not an urgent topic.”

Managers rarely discuss contract discussions in public, but Farke may be acting with knowing that other teams are currently unable to pursue Rodon because he will be spending the remainder of the season on loan at Leeds.

The 47-year-old seems to be adamant that the Wales international wants to finish his career at Elland Road.
