According to Nathan Gissing, Chelsea is thinking of moving this month to get Jhon Duran, a teenage striker out of Aston Villa.

After the current strikers’ lackluster performances in front of goal, the Blues are looking to add another striker to their lineup to increase their alternatives for scoring goals.

After Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson left the team to play in the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, manager Mauricio Pochettino was forced to use Cole Palmer as a false nine in the team’s last two games. The Englishman has struggled in every game when playing false nine, and against Middlesborough in the Carabao Cup, he was particularly ineffective in front of goal.

Among the other players on the team, Armando Broja hasn’t been at his best since sustaining a significant knee injury. This season, the Albanian striker has only managed to tally two goals. Conversely, Christopher Nkunku has been sidelined with another knock and has missed the majority of the season due to injury.Chelsea target Jhon Duran as stop-gap striker option

Gissing claims that Chelsea is considering the 20-year-old Colombian striker Duran as a short-term solution since they intend to spend big money in the summer transfer window on a long-term replacement. They have discussed internally moving Duran on loan in order to have a stopgap until the end of the season.

This transfer season, Chelsea has been connected to multiple strikers, most notably Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, who are both anticipated to cost over £100 million. The Blues are keeping an eye on their budget and are considering less expensive possibilities for this window. Duran and Karim Benzema have both been linked to them.

Jhon Duran is not prepared to move to Chelsea.
Jhon Duran, a young Colombian who was signed by Aston Villa from MLS team Chicago Fire in January 2023, hasn’t exactly set the Premier League on fire since his arrival.

Duran has made 14 league appearances this season and scored two more goals in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The youthful Colombian is ranked behind Ollie Watkins in Unai Emery’s starting lineup, having made just seven starts this season.

Like Chelsea’s own Broja, who might possibly be further advanced in his development, Duran is a budding striker. Given that he is having difficulty adjusting to life in European sport, a move to Chelsea might not be the greatest option for him right now.
